Very crunchy but not the hard kind. Perfect sweetness. That soft fudgy and custard centre. Lots of vanilla flavour with hints of rum.

Not too sure what rum xxxx uses but it might have been a rum extract/essence. It had a very distinct taste that I did not enjoy.

canelé

A canelé or cannelé (pronounced ka-nuh-lay) is a small French pastry from Bordeaux, flavoured with rum and vanilla with a soft and tender custard center and a dark, thick caramelised crust. It takes the shape of a small, striated cylinder up to five centimetres in height with a depression at the top.

financier

A financier (pronounced fee-nan-see-ay) is a small light and moist with a crisp French cake, made with brown butter and almond flour. It is traditionally baked in a small rectangular mold to look like a bar of gold.
madeleine

A madeleine is a small sponge cake baked in a shell-like mold. The bump at the top is the signature characteristic of a well-baked madeleine.
